Words are what we need in our lives to help communication. Communication is important because it helps to establish a relationship between people. Words can help in art to help show the meaning of a piece and to help establish what that piece can mean to a person. Not all works of art needs explanation with words, art is meant to be what the individual thinks it is. Using words in this particular piece helps to establish what it is right away and leaves room for what the words mean. Words are best left spoken to describe a piece of art so discussion about what it is can be spoken. This piece was hard to show the value scale between shades. Some of the darks blended together and the line between two objects sometimes isn’t clear but there is a little bit of a separation. I chose words that describe dogs on the rug to show the different colors that were on the rug and on the floor. On the wall I used the line “adopt don’t shop” because it took up the most space, and because my dog was adopted and I think more dogs need to be adopted. For the dog I used his name, Scooby, I chose to do this because yes it is important to draw attention to adopting but it is also important to show that a good dog can come from it.
